Salary Range:$15.0000 To 16.0000 Hourly

Position Summary:

COCA’s Season-Long Program Fellowship Program is a professional training program for aspiring arts administrators, arts educators, and performing arts production practitioners. Participants are given practical learning experiences, independent and collective projects, and work as entry-level staff persons in the company’s administrative and production departments.

Each Fellow’s experience is developed and supervised under the guidance of a staff mentor, and draws from the diverse resources and collective knowledge of COCA’s resident artists, teachers and administrators. Through daily exposure in their primary field of interest and work on individual, specific projects, the experience is designed to broaden and strengthen the professional and personal skills and abilities of each of our interns and fellows. COCA’s internships and fellowships are designed to provide a springboard to a professional life in the arts.

We are looking for an organized, professional, well-written emerging professional and/or college-level, pre-professional students with an interest in pursuing a career in costume design, construction, and/or management with an eye for detail to fill the position of Costume Fellow. The Costume Fellow will work directly with COCA’s Costume Manager on productions as a stitcher, taking part in wardrobe maintenance and wardrobe during productions.

Maintain construction standards within the costume shop.
Help with the organization, pulling and re-stocking of costume storage as needed by the Costume Manager.
Take notes and assist with performer fittings as needed.
Be able to work independently on assigned projects.
Must be able to work all assigned production, be available for TECH, the full run and strike.
Other duties as assigned.

Education and/ or Qualifications:

Costume construction skills, including: cutting, stitching and finishing.
Simple draping and pattern making.
Costume fitting experience.
Tailoring experience.
Garment alteration skills, including: prepping, stitching and reconstruction.

Competencies: 

Ability to work well under pressure with varied personalities.
Ability to both receive and delegate instructions to others.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Ability to perform duties in a rigorous schedule.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to walk, stand and sit for periods of time.
Must be available evenings and weekends when required.
